We had a great stay at a lodge with superfast WiFi, firm and comfortable beds, and a large lounge with plenty of entertainment options like DVDs and puzzles. the Maori decoration added an interesting touch, and we especially enjoyed the pool table and ping pong. the two resident cats were a bonus, and the large, well-stocked kitchen with ample refrigerator space made it easy to cook our own meals. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the dorms facing the inner courtyard provided a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Cons: No 😕.

The staff was really friendly and the wifi was good. the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was big. the receptionist helped me sort out a room with a working TV and even gave me a recommendation for a scenic drive home.
The bathroom was a disaster. the shower didn't have a proper curtain, so water ended up soaking the whole room.

I absolutely loved the cozy and inviting atmosphere of the hotel. The common areas were beautifully decorated with warm colors and comfortable furniture, making it a perfect place to relax and socialize with other guests. As a senior woman, I appreciated that the hotel had easy accessibility, with wide hallways and well-maintained elevators that made it convenient for me to navigate around the property.
I would have liked to see more organized activities specifically tailored for senior guests.

The staff member was very helpful and ensured that I had a room with a working TV. The bed was comfortable and provided a restful night's sleep. the location of the hotel was convenient and the staff were friendly and accommodating.
Upon arrival, we were surprised to find the gates at the driveway locked at night. There was no prior mention of this during check-in.

I stayed at Beachcomber Lodge & Backpacker for two nights and it was a fantastic experience. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, providing me with great local information and advice. The atmosphere in the hostel was superb, with outstanding people and a great sense of community. The 4-bed room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, and the facilities including the cooking area, pool, table-tennis, showers. The proximity to local restaurants, cafes, and attractions, as well as being a pickup spot for Cape Reinga tours, was also a major plus. I will definitely be staying here again when touring the Far North and highly recommend it.
